Honeymoon safari & Zanzibar

The classic pairing: a private safari through the Serengeti and Ngorongoro, then white sand and turquoise water in Zanzibar.

Honeymoon Fully coordinated Budget · Mid-range · High-end

A honeymoon has one job: to give you the two of you back. Which is exactly what Tanzania does, if it is planned properly.

The formula we recommend is simple and it has never let a couple down: seven to ten days on private safari through the northern parks, then a flight to Zanzibar and nothing at all to do for a week.

The first half — the wild

A private 4x4 and your own guide, so the vehicle is yours. No strangers, no fixed schedule, no one else deciding when you have looked at the lions long enough. If you want to sit with a leopard for an hour, you sit with a leopard for an hour.

We plan the route around the wildlife and the light: Tarangire with its baobabs and elephants, the Ngorongoro Crater at dawn when it is still misty, then the Serengeti, where the plains simply do not end. Sundowners on a rock with a glass of something cold as the sun goes down.

And a good guide knows the other half of the job: when to talk, and when to quietly walk away and let you have the moment.

The second half — the sand

A short flight from the Serengeti and you are on the Indian Ocean. Zanzibar is where the safari adrenaline turns into sleep, seafood and swimming.

We match the resort to you, not to a brochure: quiet north-east beaches, a boutique hotel in Stone Town, or a barefoot-luxury lodge where the tide goes out for a kilometre. Spice tours, dhow sunset sails and snorkelling if you want them; absolutely nothing if you do not.

The touches

Champagne sundowner on the plains. A private candlelit dinner in the bush, with lanterns and a fire and the sound of things moving in the dark. Rose petals and a honeymoon turndown at the camps that offer it. A cake, if you tell us the date.

None of it is compulsory and none of it is padding. Tell us which of it you actually want, and we will leave the rest out.

Every comfort level, honestly priced

A honeymoon does not have to be a High-end honeymoon to be extraordinary. Our Budget and Mid-range tiers use the same guides, the same parks and the same wildlife — the difference is in the beds and the bathrooms, not in the experience.

Tell us your budget and we will tell you honestly what it buys. We would far rather send you on a wonderful mid-range trip than an anxious luxury one.

Questions couples ask us

How long should a honeymoon safari be?
Ten to fourteen days in total works beautifully: seven to eight days on safari, then five to seven days in Zanzibar. It is possible in less, but the safari is the part that suffers when it is rushed.
When is the best time for a honeymoon in Tanzania?
Late June to October gives the best wildlife viewing and reliable weather. January and February are also excellent, and slightly quieter. We avoid the long rains from late March to May.
Will we have our own vehicle and guide?
Yes. Every one of our honeymoon safaris is private. The 4x4 and the guide are yours alone — you will not be sharing with other travellers.
Can we combine the honeymoon with a Kilimanjaro climb?
Absolutely, and some couples do. Climb first, then safari, then collapse onto a Zanzibar beach. It makes for a longer trip, but it is a magnificent one.
Do you arrange the flights to Zanzibar?
Yes. Internal flights, all transfers and the hotels are included in your proposal. Your international flights are the only thing you need to book yourselves.
